Another culture is often similar to our own and yet unique to the history of the country and its economics. My encounter with this Chinese boy so reminded me of many of our own American kids, selling Girl Scout Cookies, lemonade, donuts, or stickers. All are their own entrepreneurs. This book gives children an opportunity to learn about another culture, use maps and pause to reflect on some of the questions asked in the text. The vocabulary is not "dumbed-down" but offers a rich variety of words, both in English and Chinese.
The illustrations are views of modern China and the Hutong, so popular now for both tourists and locals.
